Krakow, Poland

Aside from being a base camp for visiting Auschwitz, Krakow is a very quaint old city that was somehow spared from the destruction that Warsaw and other Polish cities faced in WWII. It has (I think) the largest central square in Eastern Europe. Sad however, that the Jewish quarter has no Jews left. While it has only 700,000 people, it has more life than many cities 10 times its size. Great bar scene and very nice locals. I am also happy that it is quite affordable as well!
