Goodbye, Asia
Well it's been a fun 3 months in the Far East (and Oceania)... A 10 hour flight took me to Frankfurt, Germany, where I quickly remembered how bloody expensive Europe is. 3 Euros for a small bottle of water (~$4.50 CAD). I had nothing to do for 4 hours until my flight to Romania, but I couldn't afford to do the typical things I do; eat at every restaurant I can find until my flight, or in SE Asia, get a foot/head/back massage until my flight boards. I could afford about 15 minutes of internet, an ice cream bar, and a pretzel with the 10 Euro note I happened to have. It will be interesting adjusting to Europe - and I have ~1.5 months to do it. I had thought the intense summer in Asia would make me lose lots of weight - just changed my shape a little. I suppose starvation in Europe will have to do, provided I don't gain 15 lbs from the awesome Turkish food one week from now. I guess it's not really bidding farewell to Asia, as I will return shortly from the Western side when I cross the Bosphorus in Istanbul - but I think you all know what I mean. I'm debating whether I should take 2-3 days in Egypt after Turkey, or just go directly to Central Europe.
