I don't usually get a chance to fully turn off and unplug. This was one of the rare opportunities to do so, in a rather remote mountainous region in the northernmost part of the island of Bali, near Tamblingan Lake.
People typically associate Bali with beaches, Australians, cheap massages, and the last vestiges of Hinduism in Southeast Asia (ok, maybe fewer on the lattermost point). There is a quieter side of Bali, one with remote resorts, lush jungles filled with exotic flora and fauna, terraced rice fields, and abundant tea & coffee plantations. That's the part I fled to.
I still could not escape the Instagrammers, but luckily they stayed confined to a few select vista points and infinite pools.
Little did I know it would be my last trip for nearly 2 years.
