Phenom Penh

I can't say I really came to Phenom Penh for the city itself, but I was surprised at how developed and clean it was considering Cambodia's recent history. It is a tortured country but the people have managed to move past its brutal history to create what is one of the most comfortable places I have been. The people are always smiling and there isn't the sense of them wanting to rip you off as much as in other places that have smiling people (as they are smiling at your wallet).

I came to Phenom Penh for the Killing Fields and to witness the remnants of one of the cruelest regimes in history. It was a nation gone mad - millions dead. Mass graves spread everywhere - and we only just saw one. We visited a former school turned prison (S-21) and of the thousands incarcerated, only 12 survived.
