When we thought nothing could be more spectacular than Everest, we were pleasantly surprised by the decent into sub-tree line altitudes that looked like a rather dreamy landscape. How nice it was to be able to breathe full lungs of air again. Downside - HOT! Zhangmu was really more Nepali than Tibetan and it was rather seedy in some places. Felt like a different country. Perhaps it was the presence of trees. Our local guide Tinle (pictured below) was just awesome and it was sad for us all to say goodbye as we crossed into Nepal.
